Because I’m poor and unfortunate I’ve unexpectedly developed a special relationship with the collection agency that calls me constantly. The person is always the same lady asking for money that I spend on things I can barely even remember. When I first started hearing from her she was mean and nasty and always pushed me to come up with a financial plan. With time moving forward though we actually got to know each other and even became friends on a certain level. It never changed the fact that I was; owing people money but I began actually enjoying the calls. I don’t want something I’m enjoying to end; would you?
There was a time in my life I was afraid of accruing debt. I didn’t want to be a dead beat living his life under the thumb of someone else. I’ve always had a desire for independence and freedom and owing people money is counter-intuitive to those ideas. As I’ve come to learn though sometimes going into debt is a necessity and unavoidable.
Once I graduated from college the only job I was capable of procuring was of minimum wage. I wasn’t able to afford my student loads, food or even gasoline. My answer at first was to take out credit cards to cover immediate expenses I didn’t have the cash for but it all spun out of control quickly.
At last the collection agency; Rapid Recovery started calling. Lauren was a real nice person. She has husband and three kids. We would discuss everything under the sun to world history to astrology and our philosophies on life. I have to admit it’s pretty awesome. Unfortunately our friendship is based on owing money. I almost don’t want to pay anything off so I have to keep hearing from but she insists that I make a plan.
Once I sorted everything out I was able to quit my job and become free and clear of debt. Lauren let me in on the ideas of the entrepreneur Patrick Maser.
